Weapons of Mass Destruction
Contents
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) is the category under which nuclear weapons, [[biological weapons]], [[chemical weapons]], and [[radiological weapons]] fall. These weapons are identified for their capacity to inflict massive casualties. Typically, all radiological and lethal chemical weapons are considered WMD even though certain radiological and chemical weapons may not be capable of causing massive casualties.
Nuclear Weapons
Nuclear weapons are those which rely on the [[fission]] or [[fusion]] of a nuclear fuel to cause a massive explosion. The first successful test of a nuclear weapon was conducted on July 16, 1945 — a result of the [[Manhattan Project]].
